We aren’t trying to define identity, but to listen to the ideas and experiences that are a part of it. Perhaps, as Raphaël Enthoven says in his article here, identity is impossible to define, something always in flux and moving. We create ourselves daily, changing and developing as we move from one city, country, relationship or job to another. Still, there are contributing factors: for some it’s religion or politics, for others it might be music, literature or film. Our identity melds with what we consume, with the people and experiences we encounter, with our family, our friends, and the way we want others to see us. It’s inherent in how we judge what we’ve failed at and what we’ve accomplished. It’s different for everyone, yet something we all want to understand.
